One of my favourite things about going out for a curry is when they bring out that silver spinning tray of Indian sauces and condiments with the poppadoms. There’s something so satisfying about spooning out the different chutneys and pickles for picking at with crushed poppadoms whist waiting for your food.

Of course, you can quite easily buy most of these pickles from the supermarket nowadays – but making your own at home may not be quite as hard work as you might think. Plus, imagine how impressed your friends and family will be when you tell them you even made the chutney!

I’ve got loads of Indian condiments to choose from, up from easy-to-make options like Mint Raita - a deliciously refreshing yoghurt dip - up to more complex options like Amla Chutney, which is kind of like an Indian gooseberry jam. Check them all out below.

I absolutely love making Indian snacks and I know you will too! They can be so quick and easy, or intricate and complicated, depending on how much time you have and how much you want to challenge yourself in the kitchen. If I only have a short amount of time to whip something up, I like to make a round of Pakora or maybe a quick plate of Seekh Kebabs to fill hungry tummies.

If I have a bit more time I’ll often choose to make some vegetable Samosas and a few Vada (crispy doughnuts) -both of which are firm family favourites.

Indian snacks can be a great foundation to a mezze-style meal with friends they can form the cornerstone of a delicious and healthy lunchbox, or you can offer them as appetisers before a sit-down meal. However you chose to serve them I’m confident your friends and family will love these tasty treats. Why not have a browse of these Indian snacks recipes and bookmark some of your favourites?

We know that Asian flavours work with soups - just look at the Vietnamese Pho or Japanese Kare Lomen. For some reason though, Indian soup never really features on a typical curry house menu.

This is quite strange considering we were eating Mulligatawny as far back as the Victorian times. Well, let me tell you, I want to get Indian soup back on the menu.

For me, Indian flavours only add to what you want from a soup. When the weather’s grey, cold and miserable outside what better way to brighten up your life with a splash of tang and a pinch of spice?

The ingredients in my Indian soup recipes are also renowned for fighting everyone’s worst winter time enemy - those pesky cold and flu bugs. My mum would make me Athrak Soup whenever I was feeling a bit under the weather and needed a little pick me up.
