When thinking up picnic food ideas it’s unlikely that Indian cuisine would spring to mind. Who wants to awkwardly scoop up cold tikka masala and clumpy rice out from a Tupperware using a corner of day old naan? The thing is, Indian food is much more diverse than the curry house standards you might have come to expect.
In fact, most Indian starters are delicious eaten hot or cold. For instance, cold samosas and pakoras have been happily served with a side of tomato ketchup (!) in Indian households throughout the world, with no complaints. Meat dishes like my Seekh, Shammi and Chapli kebabs work perfectly too – try serving them up with one of my Raita yoghurt dips.
For more picnic recipes check out my salads section. Kachumber is a deliciously fresh and zesty salad made with tomatoes, onions, cucumber, coriander and lemon - s simple to make and utterly delicious.
Finally, ditch that boring squash and warm beer for one of my delicious fruit and yoghurt lassis…and just add a shot of dark rum to my Mango Lassi to make a deliciously naughty adult version!
